Kolkata, India: Numerous prohibited fireworks ignited throughout Kolkata districts, disregarding the court ruling and the C.M's request
Rajat Roy, Kolkata: The weather delayed the lighting of fireworks until late in the day in Kolkata. As soon as the rain let up a little, crackers began to burst in various locations. According to reports, the firecrackers were set off on the road in front of Sabyasachi Dutta's Kali Puja in Salt Lake City at approximately 11:30 p.m.
There were police present.
Numerous crackers were spotted in Barabazar, Kashipur, Sithi, Beleghata, Kasba,
and Jadavpur, according to police sources. Up until 8 o'clock in the evening,
Lalbazar had seized 160 kilogrammes of illegal fireworks. There have been 77
arrests. The crew from the pollution control board was en route. They have
acted in response to the separate explosion of 60 firecrackers.
This time, however, the court has banned not only
noise of more than 90 decibels but also environmentally friendly fireworks
without certification. However, environmental activists alleged that the
"green" fireworks were actually limited. There were a lot of fake fireworks;
virtually no fireworks had been sold on the streets. It was alleged that the
activism of the police-administration to catch the polluted fireworks was not
seen.
However, many people said that this time the picture
of pollution would not be affected in that way because it rained till late
Monday night. The floating dust in the air could be washed away a lot. An
environmental activist said, "I will not be surprised if the officials of
the environment department claim success by showing that information after the
pollution has been washed away in the rain".
